Here's some video I shot a dozen years ago in the Italian Dolomites.  Not on an R65, but my R1100RS.

Well, it would be nice if the title refers to my age, but alas - those days are far gone  :(

The picture is from a film I shot a couple of days ago while driving from our summer cottage to our home and back. On this stretch of road there is a series of nice bends which I like to go through as fast as possible.

See the whole film at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UY6ULWDTDk

Cool!  I favorite'd, voted and posted it on my Facebook!

What are the little one-lane slalom course's in the middle of the road?  I guess to slow down traffic coming into town?

I really like the two-lane bicycle path!

Now, go do it again, and see if you can get your speedometer to show in the frame! LOL!

Thanks!

All I can say is "wow", Darryl.  I watched Part 1.  For a while I thought it was a one-way road from some of the passes your friend made!  Then the tour bus!!!
I guess not a lot of friendly waving goes on in the switchbacks! lol!

Thank you.

If you liked part 1, you'll really like part 5.  ;)

What you may not realize is that the riders have a lot more visibility than what the camera shows.  That tour bus makes a pretty surprising entrance, but in point of fact, we could see it coming down the previous traverse.  Maybe I'm giving away some of the "magic" here, but the passes aren't as amazing as they look.

Huh!  Dirk is a good rider!  And Darryl is a good follower!!

And after I was impressed by 4 cars!  HA!

I had a 6 min. version of this cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground playing while I was watching it.   Pretty cool.
When that song finished, a very well done cover of Runnin' Down A Dream came on.  Very nice!

Thanks!

I made a similar take going back with the speedometer showing, but it will take four hours to upload at my present connection. I will try and find an editor and cut out the interesting parts.

Great video, Trolle!   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

The thing that struck me while watching was the complete absence of billboards and commercial neon signs that pepper the road on both sides on most highways and byways in the US.  Most refreshing!

(And I liked how you gunned it to easily pass all those vehicles you came upon during the ride, too!)   ;)

They are simply forbidden, and I agree!

My kids, who are between 28 and 32, always complain that I drive too close when I position for an overtake, but in my experience the safest way to overtake another car or motorbike is to place yourself at his left rear, change down one gear and then gun past as fast as possible.

Impressing - what was your speed between bends?

Depends, but I would say that I was probably doing 40-50mph/70-85kph in the tightest bends and about 80-100mph/130-160kph in the open sweepers.

(I don't much look at the speedometer or tachometer when I'm riding a road like this -- I just ride for the conditions and how the motor sounds/feels.)

I rarely got into even 4th gear during the whole ride.  In order to hang with the more powerful K bike, I had to stay pretty high up in the revs on the R1100.
