Upcoming Willville weekend

I'm posting this form a Guzzi board:

Spring Campout Near Floyd, Virginia

Hi all,

I'm a member of the Richmond BMW Riders (bike-agnostic club), and one of their (in)famous members is spearheading a campout in May. Ambogal lives near the location and suggested I post the info here. So, here it is!

Spring RBMWR Camp Out, May 9-11
by Eppa Wimbish

Floyd, Va., is home to the Floyd General Store:
http://www.floydcountrystore.com that has hosted a Friday night jamboree for over 75 years. Some 17 miles from Floyd, and one mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway, is Willville, a very tidy motorcycle-only campground: http://www.willvillebikecamp.com

Just across the pkwy is the community of Meadows Of Dan: http://www.meadowsofdanva.com with an "everything" general store/gas station, and a restaurant. Near Willville is the Blue Ridge Motel for those who don't wish to camp: phone #276-952-2244. Or, somewhat upscale, is the just opened Hotel Floyd, in downtown Floyd: www.hotelfloyd.com Plans are to meet at the McDonald's on Rt.360 west of Richmond at Amelia at 9am, Fri May 9th. It's about 200 miles to Willville from there. If you like, you pick another route/time, and meet us at Willville, or vicinity. We will set tents, eat at one of the nearby restaurants, or in Floyd, then head to the General Store. Music starts about 6:30, and goes till maybe 10pm. Admission is $3, and there are often a band or two on the sidewalk. The store serves some food, but especially hand-dipped ice cream.

Sunday is an optional trip to the general store in Paintbank, a popular motorcycle stop and home to The Swinging Bridge Restaurant: http://www.theswingingbridge.com

If the weather looks really foul for camping, the trip will be postponed.

Willville is a hoppin' place!  We've been to Paintbank and eaten at The Swinging Bridge Restaurant.  The ride from Willville was fabulous and the food at the restaurant was excellent.

I'll have to check my calendar...

Yup, for sure.
In addition to this deal there's also the ADVriders thing you already mentioned, Aida, this month.

More cut 'n' paste, sorry...
"A bunch of (mostly BMW) guys over on ADVRider have a "Spring Fling" planned at Will's April 18-20.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303705 "

There's there's the annual Running of the Urals, aka B.U.R.P., in July.

Looks like Will's gonna have quite a summer, and it's barely started yet.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
