vintage ride
« on: November 18, 2007, 05:23:56 PM »
Went on a little informal ride here in Scottsdale / Fountain Hills Az billed as "Moto Mikes Vintage ride" It was a complete blast riding with machines that you might only see on display. BMWs were well represented but only my LS and one other R65 belonging to Doug Penny (who is a member on ths list) to represent the Wee M W fans. Airhead members may know the moniker 'Toaster Tan' and he was there as well. a Harley sidecar outfit seemed to have suspension difficulty as I only ever saw 2 of the 3 wheels on the ground in right hand turns, with the 3rd wheel some 2-4 feet in the air. I also got to see 'Ted' in action. Ted I'm told is a retired BMW factory mechanic who mysteriously appears wherever 3 or more airheads are congregated. This really neat guy will just come up and start checking the condition of whatever components catch his fancy. He also comes equipped with a tool kit. Last I saw him he was tuning carbs in the parking lot using the ground 1 plug method. The owner of the bike later reported an improvement in how it ran. Good stuff. Heres some photos to amuse.
