Hi to all,
firstly big thanks to Bruce Launceston who told me about this forum.
Just bought a low mileage, Polaris silver, 1982 R65LS. I recently restored my dream bike, a 1976 R90S and decided I no longer could justify keeping my other airhead, an R100S, because it was too similar, although less enjoyable to ride. I still needed a reliable all-weather runabout to use as daily transport and to keep the miiles off the '90. I hadn't considered the small BMWs before, but was drawn to this one because of price, condition and the funky '80s styling! Never thought it would be as good as it is though: smaller, lighter, quicker steering and better brakes than her bigger sisters, the little 65 has totally won me over. Despite being intended as a daily ride I've already arranged to get the tank and plastics resprayed, and will be carrying out a rolling restoration over the next few months. I think this ones a keeper!
Might need another all-weather runabout soon...
