Hi to all,

firstly big thanks to Bruce Launceston who told me about this forum.

Just bought a low mileage, Polaris silver, 1982 R65LS. I recently restored my dream bike, a 1976 R90S and decided I no longer could justify keeping my other airhead, an R100S, because it was too similar, although less enjoyable to ride. I still needed a reliable all-weather runabout to use as daily transport and to keep the miiles off the '90. I hadn't considered the small BMWs before, but was drawn to this one because of price, condition and the funky '80s styling! Never thought it would be as good as it is though: smaller, lighter, quicker steering and better brakes than her bigger sisters, the little 65 has totally won me over. Despite being intended as a daily ride I've already arranged to get the tank and plastics resprayed, and will be carrying out a rolling restoration over the next few months. I think this ones a keeper!

Might need another all-weather runabout soon...

Welcome aboard, Daniel. Post up some snaps of your new R65LS. A couple of non-R65 Beemers would also be acceptable. ;) We love photos.

Hi - rules won't allow pics to be posted until I've posted another post (if you see what I mean) so this one is just to allow...

me to post some pics...

Hi to all,

I'll post pics of the LS when she's finished, meanwhile here's my R90S:

And here's another restored "airhead" that I just sold:

Having a Le Mans and an R90S in the same garage was a dream come true, but despite steering, stopping and going better than the BMW the Guzzi was not as nice to ride and almost impossible to put on the centrestand! I thought about putting it on permanent display in the living room, but ended up selling it to a guy who restores biplanes - ideal owner!

I live in Somerset in SW England.

Nice Airhead pictures, Daniel.  Welcome to the asylum.
Keep us posted on the work you're doing on the LS, we love to hear of our R65ers returning their rides to the shape they deserve.

OOOOOOOOh some very cool cycles! Love the Guzzi. This site is terrible!!  Gives me the itch to add to add another cycle..or trade up..trade down... add a fairing......a wind shield...go solo!!! I have seen so many cycles I would love to get my hands on. Your Guzzi is one and after you do the LS...I am sure it will be too. Welcome to the clan.

Welcome Daniel.  Love the R90S.  The silver and black is in my opinion the most beautiful paint scheme.  Never cared for the Daytona dayglo combo.  As for the Guzzi, oh yeh!  Gorgeous.  My next Guzzi will probably be an 80's T3 just cause I like the looks and it would go well in the garage next to the R90/6.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

And yes - Guzzis are close relatives to airheads and share much of the same attraction. A T3 would be a nice bike to keep alongside a 90/6. Bike magazine did a long range tour test of both bikes in the late '70s - loaded down with luggage and travelling around the Western Isles of Scotland - great article, and there was little to fault between either bike as I recall.

Welcome from Wiltshire.

I also own a pair of airheads.  Both a bit rougher round the edges but, they appeal to me.  R65 and R100.

By this weekend, all things being equal, the R100 should have wire wheels...If they arrive....

Could never stretch to an R90s though......
