Thinking time.
« on: May 21, 2010, 01:03:33 PM »
I've been riding a K75 around recently, and I like it, but the R65 has a lot of class that you just can't match.
So, my cylinders fire with a bit of carb cleaner in them, but then cut out again. So there is a fuel issue thru the carbs somewhere. The plan? Buy some 32mm Bings off ebay to test with, and if I get a result ,keep em. R65 hasn't run since November!!

Just be aware that there are a lot of different Bing carbs in the 64/32 series .

There's a set of numbers stamped into the vertical flange at the front of the carb, should be something like : 64/32/325 .

Try to get a match if you can .

Any chance of a shop in your area that may have Bing carb repair knowledge ?

Have cleaned them, re-built them and they still are problematic I think. The coils deliver a good spark. Compression seems ok....Maybe a good quality ultra sonic clean?........ :-?

Given all you've been through I think that's not a bad plan.
Carbs are saleable items so you can always sell a set once the problem is resolved.

Pity there is no one with an airhead nearby that could lend you a set just to get that engine started.

I'm at a loss of where to go from here, as I remember, your problem came on suddenly after the bike got rained on heavily while you were at work .

I know my bike will start at least and run poorly, if one carb isn't working .

I just can't figure out why both carbs would be at fault !!!!

I hope you can actually find out what the problem is .

Did you check the jet in the bottom corner of the float bowl.  Many people clean the carb bodies but miss this important jet.  If its clogged....

Good luck!
