Leaky Carb.

I have a 1986 R65 and one carb is leaking where the brass nozzle goes into the carb. Is it possible to buy a new nozzle? If so, how do I press it into the carb? I think it is pressed at the factory. Thanks for any help.

You might check the Bing website to see if this is an available piece but I don't believe it is.

If it's leaky but still stuck in the carb body, I'd consider trying a LockTite stud locker liquid. I used this product in securing case studs in VW engine blocks and it's resistant to heat and chemicals.Use some carb cleaner to prep the joint line. Dribble a little around the brass tube's contact joint to the carb body and let it cure per instructions.

Have you tried giving the spigot a little tap with a hammer to see if it is seated. Getting the spigot out might do additional damage so wicking loctite might be worth a try. Dear stuff though so I'd try a little tap first.

Do not pull it out if you have not already done so. Loctite if it hasn't been pulled out, Something more "adhesive" (say Devcon) if it has.

Spigots coming loose is a constant problem with VWs, in the past I have used both Loctite wick-in and the devcon solutions. The secondary advice is to keep an eye out for a serviceable carb body.

After much searching I finally found in a red bottle 290 loctite wicking, green in color. Tried tapping the spigot, per suggestion. Still leaking. Got the connection as clean as I could, dribbled the loctite in there, propped the carb up level and let it set 24 hours. Eager with anticipation I tried it the next day and it leaked gas like a fiend. Seems as though the gasoline dissolved the loctite.
Time to start over. Onward and upward...or at least onward.
