I think I'm going to try Monte's solution, since the expenditure is probably the least. Sure enough, when I opened it up, the fuse was broken. Long story short, it was my fault when I was replacing the wiring harness I had taken them out and bent one putting them back in. With any luck, I'll be able to implement the fix tomorrow. I'd never had any fuse trouble until now, so I can't complain.
I find Lone Star to be a typical BMW dealer, although they do have triumphs to look at, and they also did turn me onto a local mechanic that's willing to work on the R65 for jobs I don't want to do.
