´82 R65LS seat on a ´79 R65???
« on: February 05, 2012, 11:42:40 AM »
Hello!!!

A question for the wizards!!
I´ve been thinking on changing my regular seat for a R65LS one with handles... something like this...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seat-and-cowl-BMW-1982-R65LS-/110815453251?hash=item19cd1da043&item=110815453251&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

Anyone knows if it fits? Is there any transformation needed???

Thank you in advance!!!!

I assume am LS seat would fit any 81 -84 R65. Don't know for sure if it would fit a 79 as the subframe is a different part No so maybe you would need the later subframe. The storage box that sits over the battery is also different so you would probably need that too.

the only thing you will need is the storage compartments for an LS.
OR run none, then you'll be golden.

Can you by a seat that is LOWER to the frame than the standard seat?  The average seat is what, 4, 5" "tall"?  I'd LOVE to shave a couple inches to get my feet lower to the ground.

You can re-cover a seat and remove some of the foam to lower the seat height but there is nothing like 4 or 5" of foam. It's 2" at the most.
