AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I attempted to remove my exhaust pipe today, and it was fairly tight, so i used a rubber mallet to knock the end of the tool, and the finned nut on the exhaust started to slowly move. Didn't actually free up and seemed to require persuasion the whole way, of course when it came off all threads were rooted.
Then i went looking n the web to see what i coould do next, and that's when i found all the warnings on this nut galling. Inluding if it doesn't free up after a 1/2 turn STOP, and try different techniques.
Bugger, well it's too late now, I've now got a nut with almost no thread and an exhaust flange with only about a third of thread left, possibly not enough to use.
Does anyone have any idea on what my next move should be, or am I up for the cost of another head?
There will be a smear of high temp anti seize applied when re-assembling anything here, no sign any was used before.
