« on: December 17, 2009, 08:03:48 PM »
Can the R65LS rear wheel fit on the 1979-80 rounded final drive??

Has anybody done this?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I know for certain, is that the LS rear wheel brake drum is a larger diameter, so you need different brake shoes .

Standard R65 shoes won't work .

For some unknown reason I think that the wheel spacer/tophat bushing used in the LS wheel on one side is slightly longer than that used with the snowflake wheels.   But, if you've got a fully assembled wheel with the bearings and spacers, that is probably a non-issue.

Bill is right - the brake shoes are different, but I think everything else pretty much fits the same.

There are two different part number axles, one for bikes before 09/80, and another for bikes made 09/80 and later (twin shock bikes) .

I just saw, that the LS version, has a different part number from the other two .
