Italo and BMW-Boxer-Breakfast in Bremen
« on: May 09, 2007, 12:33:35 PM »
The Krauts are back  :o ;D ;)

Last weekend we rode to a small village near Bremen (Germany), where Italo and BMW-Boxer owners met. I really like the old Laverdas, MV Agustas and Ducatis. So here are some pics for you.

"Hast Du die gelbe Kuh gesehen? (have you seen the yellow cow)" my wife asked. A yellow cow? This is not a yellow cow. It´s a R 90 S in Daytona-orange. To call this bike "a yellow cow" is blasphemy. >:(

Great Italian bikes:

Aermacchi Harley Davidson:

Old Moto Guzzis:

Italian Divas (Laverdas):

German Frolleins (Do you know what this means? :D)

Black is beautiful:

Old Beemers:

Scott,
You have quite a knack with photography. I day dream about having a summer to tour Germany, Northern Italy, and France. Your photos make me want to tour all the more.

Dirk, you're really outdone yourself this time!  Outstanding photos!!!  And so many gorgeous old bikes, and not just Beemers, but some really sexy Italian rides, too!  You even got a couple of pics of some lovely Moto Guzzis, the only other marque that I'd switch for!

Be still, my beating heart! Cosi Bello!!   :-* :-*

Wonderful pictures!   [smiley=clap.gif]  Thanks Dirk!

It's fun to see all the old bikes being taken care of so well, and ridden.  What fun.  And I love to see the pictures of the countryside where you ride, too.

Thanks for the pictures and the storyline too!

Thank you Dirk.....I do think you could be a wonderful advertisement photographer for BMW.....Sure makes one wish they were in Europe touring!  The sites you pick out on tour seem just so proper for a posed BMW bike!

Do you see many LS's at these get togethers?? I haven't spotted one in your photos yet but I just could've missed it whilst oogling the red Ducatis!! :P
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Hello Sue,

Hello Sue, your  feeling is correct. The R65 LS is very rare in Germany.

In the eighties the German customers didn´t like the LS very much. Most of the bikes were sold to the UK  and to the States.

Today we are sad about that, because you can hardly find the LS on our roads.
And if you wan´t to buy one nowadays, you have to pay a lot of money.

When I played Domina with the cows at the Kleine-Boxer-Forum, I destroyed one of the last R65 LS in Germany.  :'(

But today this bike looks better than ever. ;D

LS and a Ducati.

LOVE the picture of the LS by the river.  Good enough to blow up and make a poster out of!!!   ;D
Is that the same LS you domino-ed or a different one?

Thanks for sharing all your wonderful pictures, Dirk.  It's great to see so MANY of the older vintage bikes together in one place.  And they all look so immaculate... I liked the Ducatis and the Laverdas (of course...) as well as the BMWs.

Hi Aïda,

the R65 at the river is another one.

The LS I destroyed is this one:

You ride a Laverda, too! :D Do you have a picture of her?

Dirk

Well, that's a pretty good looking LS as well!  Hope that is it in it's new condition???

Here's me on my 1998 Laverda Ghost Strike - it's the new Zane era 668 bike.  Nothing like the  old classics...

Dirk, what is the story behind the brakes on that LS?  The rotors seem quite large and the calipers have an adapter plate.  Looks pretty trick...

Thats an intresting looking mod to the breaks... And looks like a good way of improving the front stopper, which (on my two 65's) aren't that brill even with Goodridge hose in place of the strechy OE BMW I had on the Bimbo.

I'd love details on the brakes as well if you have them.  Going from my 4 piston gold brembos on the Laverda to the BMW can be down right scary at times (Vice versa even more).  I have a tendency to lock up my Laverda brakes because I'm so used to 'grabbing all I've got' on the R65...

That is an impressive job repairing the front end of the LS.  Do you have a close-up, like how are the instruments supported?  It looks like the breast plate is gone.

I like his beard!
