Hmmmm.... Probably should've made the mapa bit larger....  :-/

You don't have to use the gif image.  A link with the state you want (or don't want) inside of it will give you the big map.

I don't think you need to register, either, tho I could be wrong...

Need a map with a little extra room up north, don't ya think??? Aïda, I was wondering how you jumped over the RED states on your R65??? I would have thought that there would be a "path" of grey states to go through??? Or did you approach the northwest through NY and across the Great Lakes on the Canadian side???  Maybe you just lived in a different place..I bet that's it?!! ::)
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Ok, I'll fess up.  We trailered the bikes to my uncles place in Glasgow, Montana then rode out west.  Couldn't even bear the thought of  [smiley=zzz.gif] Kansas and those midwestern states on the bike... That way we got there fast, then took our time once we were on the bikes.

Ed, I know Oregon - especially Prospect, just outside Crater Lake.  That's where my hubby lost his transmission - sheared input shaft.  UHaul was actually a relief after all the heat we had abeen experiencing.   [smiley=thud.gif]   Didn't realize how much dessert was in Oregon...

It is a big country, Aïda.  I would say that unless you are retired, or just won a lottery, a trailer makes a lot of sense.  No shame.  Especially to see "big sky" country!

No point in me doing that map, as I've never ridden outside Oregon and Washington.
And great states for riding too, especially the eastern parts. You need to venture a little further north and hit BC  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Chris

Sorry, showing off I know, but have ridden a lot, and Rob did start it with showing me this link to World66

Nah, no book, lot better writers out there than me. Yes everything has been done by BMW except for my first foray in Italy, Greece and what was then Yugoslavia on a Triumph 650 Trophy.

Have also been riding now for 38 years (old fart) so it isn't like I have done all this travelling last year.  :-/

Hey Chris,

Now that's some traveling!!!!  I could include some European nations if I included all my motorcycle miles, but that was on a rented Suzuki GS500E.  A fun little bike as well. My hubby did it on an F650 back before they came to the states.

But you've missed some of the BEST riding in the US...North Carolina, Virgina, West Virginia.  The Blue Ridge mountains are FABULOUS!  They are quite different than the rocky mountains out west.  Time to head this way!  ;D

Hey Aida,
Rented or not you still did the riding, which is what it is all about.
I agree I will have to get east again for NC, Virginia etc. One of these days.

Wow!  Chris, what Rob said!

I'd love to sit down some evening at the next 49er Rally and hear some of your stories.   [smiley=lurker.gif]

How many of those places has Arlie (sp?) ridden with you?

Hi Melena,
Well, I will probably be down for the 49'er again. Arlie has ridden with me across Canada to Newfoundland, across top of the US states and all of the Western ones. She has also ridden all of the UK and Ireland, plus some bits of Spain and France, putting over a 100K miles herself on her '81 R65 since we bought it used in 1986. She makes a great touring companion, camping 99.9% of the time.
