Well it might take time between upgrade posts but here's what I'm starting with.

Anyone had luck with flipping the handlebars. I like the look but not sure about functionality?

Have you considered the turning radius you'll need since there may be limited left/right bar movement before contact with the fuel tank. If you really want lower bars, buy a pair that will function safely.

I was going to put the front wheel on tonight and check that (didn't have time yesterday). That was the biggest concern though

Good idea as your hands and wrists could also foul the fuel tank.

No idea your age nor physical condition but there's an experiment you may want to try. With the bike on centerstand, gear up with ATGATT and then sit on the bike. Grab those low bars and remain in position for a minimum of one hour. Just like you're riding down that lonesome highway. See how your back, neck and body feels after that "ride".

Most folks dump that nasty 'pulse air injection' Cali EPA plumbing junk. Can lead to overheating the exhaust valve and increasing odds of engine damage.

I planned on removing those parts but keeping the airbox for filtration. You guys have any ideas on a different setup that still has good air filtration. I would love to get rid of that housing but everything Ive read says running stacks isn't a better option.

What you read is correct. Best engine performance results from maintaining the OEM airbox, filter and trumpets. Those unfortunate individual, metal mesh covered, paper filters soak up water and do nothing other than reduce performance. But they are quite popular with the cafe'd hipster crowd.

I read on the internet, so it must be true, a quote from Abraham Lincoln, founder of the Republican Party:

The EPA is going to save us from ourselves? Anyone seen the nat'l news videos of that Colorado river the EPA folks were going to save? Pitiful. Heavy metals settling to the bottom and will remain in the water for years and years and years. Our tax dollars at work.
