Lou, I think you will need lots of elbow grease to take care of your "tickle". How about pictures of the kitchen? ;) D2

Will you log the household upgrades as motorcycle maintenance costs or personal liability insurance?

Wear your helmet. ;)

With the fairing off there are a few rough bits on the rear frame

The Engine however when stripped looks like it just came off the production line, the cams look as good as new.

Speed sensor sorted just need to reset the ABS and thats about it.

On the camshafts, are those wrenching areas to turn the cam, like for setting valve clearances ?

Bob the valve clearance is set by shims under the cam followers it can be done without removing the camshaft with the help of a special tool, the engine is turned by rotating the rear wheel in top gear.
The "wrenching" areas are for the removal of the drive sprockets.
I have checked the clearances and no adjustment is needed at the moment.Mechanically there seems to be very little wrong with the bike.

If it's like my Z900 with shims on top of buckets the cam is rotated to open the valve then the special J shaped tool holds the edge of the bucket down while the cam lobe is rotated out of the way. The shim can then be removed.

I bet you very rarely have to do it Lou. I set the clearances up on my Z900 after it was run in and they never moved again after that.

I will come over for a coffee when its done, bit of a delay though the R65 failed MOT got to do a brake rebuild on that first.
I have redone the forks in black as thats the origonal colour, thought about doing them silver what do you think ??.

Lou,

Great, I look forward to seeing it. Making some progress on mine now, Andrew at Mollsprings has been great, thanks for the intro.

I found Vortex vapour blasting (less then 300 yds from Squires!) this week after a couple of false starts on the big clean up, the wheels, rear hub and the fork upper & lower yolks should all be ready for early next week. The frame etc will be at Triple SSS late next week for powder coating and I will then get the bike rebuilt whist the engine is with Andrew.

All being equal, May looks good for completion 8-)
