The new Nortons are here, new Nortons are here!

So Norton has now shipped its first batch of the new motorcycle to (9) dealers in the US of A (dealers are noted in the linked blog post below).

Nortons are bikes I've always lusted after (not just the young ladies in the advertisements), but, while the new bikes look cool and modern cafe' style - I'd actually prefer one with a more usable 2-up seat as there are 6 more days in the week besides Sunday.    

Is anyone planning to go check out a new Norton at one of these dealers?   They look like they'd be nice, nimble, sporty bikes - without all the fly-by-wire nonsense and healthy -but not ridiculous- amount of horsepower.

All I know is that they are stupendously expensive in the UK, where they are made.  You lot will probably get the cheaper........I am not bitter, honest.

A colleague of mine has just gone to work for them in a quality role. We are all dead jealous, he gets to take one out for a couple of week ends in the summer as well as going to the Isle of Man TT. We are hoping he comes down to visit us with one so we can rag it

$21,000 (UK price - VAT converted) for the mid-range model (Cafe Racer).

Even if the USA gets a price break, I don't think it will be generous enough for me!

I would stick to a machine that will still be here in a few years. Not just destined to be collected and put in the backs of very well heeled garages. The sale of spares keeps the manufactures in business not the machines them selves. Do the sums of building a bike from spares.

While strolling the hot pits at Barber Motorsports Park during the annual Vintage Days Festival and AHRMA races, we spent some time admiring several restored Nortons on display at the huge Colorado Norton Works display.

If you're thinking the prices for the 'new' Nortons are eye watering, check their site for resto work on your old Norton.

I have my raffle tickets from the North Texas Norton Owners Association. They will pull my number at this year's annual Lake O' The Pines rally in October.

I keep telling myself, "This is gonna be my year." It's the only way I'll get a Norton...

Call me a weenie, but I'd rather have a gas 'n go Norton (with modern suspension & brakes ... and electrics!).

I'm sure that Colorado firm address' these issues, but like you said - eye watering.

Why are they making Nortons again?

The last (NVT/Meridan) models were loust and the stigma will take some losing.

Still, if Triumph can do it and there are enough rich people wanting a new toy then...
