New 2012 models from Triumph
« on: October 28, 2011, 08:23:10 PM »
Was hoping for an updated and lighter chassis Triumph Trophy triple but not gonna happen in 2012.

Here's the three newest additions from Hinckley:

Looks like Moto Guzzi is going to follow in the quest for humungous (engine) capacity, and follow in the quest for (re)making a scrambler edition bike as well (too bad, I don't think that the "new" Triumph Scrambler model is well liked/received anywhere I know of).

I agree about the scrambler V7. Always thought that for the most part high rise pipes were an inconvenient styling exercise.

On the same web page I quite liked the look of that Honda V twin with spoked wheels. Seemed heavy for a 400 though.

Is it true that Trumpets are now made in Thailand?

Triumph does have a factory in Thailand for a couple models. I am also lead to believe that they may set up a facility in India!

BTW, the Metzlers on my Triumph Trophy 900 are made in Thailand, too.

MY Triumph is made in Thailand (as evidenced by the 'T' in the serial number)-- despite what the guy in the Honda ads says, tiny elf hands actually build some pretty neat stuff.
As for the new Triumphs-- I just wish they would come up with an updated, electric start version of the Cub... A worthy 21st century successor to Bengtphorq's little bike.

Re: Why is "abbreviation" such a long word?
Good question.  It's because (as print and audio editors will attest) nothing is more painstakingly complicated and time-consuming than the process of reducing verbiage... So a big unwieldy word to describe that process seems reasonable.
