Picking up '04 Suzuki DR200 this weekend
« on: June 21, 2011, 09:19:55 AM »
Got Micatech Bob Gould's DR200!! Picking it up and importing next week in Upper NY. Maybe this bike can help me overcome my anxiety problem!
Derek my partner in crime is resigned and driving down with me with my friend Stew's trailer on the back of the van.

1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Wow Sue!

Are you coming over to NH to pick it up, or is Bob shipping the bike to New York?

If you're coming to NH maybe we can meet for a bite or something?

Actually Mike, Micatech are dropping the DR off in Gabriels NY at my friends there on their way to the Cdn. border and the BMWRA rally in Chippewa Falls, WI. Turned out to be rather a handy plan for all concerned! Gabriels is just north of Saranac Lake.
So we miss you this round but catch ya in Bloomsburg! Just maybe I'll do a minimalist trial run to PA on the 200!! Now that's a dumb idea eh?? No one would want to ride with me! That's OK though. No interstates but fun for the twisties in Pa!

I think that's a GREAT idea!  Too bad you're so far away, or I'd love to hook up with you.  I really think that minimalist idea is what you need to help get your groove back.  All that stuff you carry makes such a huge difference in the handling of the bike.  You need to spend some time with just the bike to find that oneness again.

Landed last evening with the DR200 and "wee Randy" is snuggled, and I mean snuggled, in between Winston and LRB in the Brrrrm Closet.. He's well rained upon after a pretty wet trip [smiley=drowning.gif]. Micatech arrived in Gabriels on Monday late afternoon and unloaded the DR. After a conference on the best way to get to WI RA Rally thru' Canada, they left. Randy or Ran is the name of my friend in Gabriels. Today I hope to get some chain cleaning and drying done. Got some Sea Foam in the States and I think that should help clean up what is probably stale gas, explaining the bit of rough running Micatech owner was explaining from the bike sitting around for sometime. Seems pretty easy to drain the float bowl. Everything looks pretty easy on this bike. A good run is in order but I can't take it on the road until I get some paperwork received from the Registrar of Imported Vehicles, then the licence plate/ON ownership done. If anyone needs advice on how to import INTO Canada, I know how...done it four times now! "All ducks in a row" is the secret!

The best part so far?? Sooooo easy to take it off the trailer and just walk the bike like a bicycle around the house to the Brrrrm Closet and in!!! [smiley=clap.gif]

A neat bike, Sue.

Friend at work has a Suzuki Wee-Vstrom 650. He recently bough a new DR200... to save gas! [smiley=undecided.gif]

I was at our local multi-line stealership on Saturday. There's a very slightly used DRZ400 on the showroom floor for $4900.00. Has a few aftermarket accessories. Not a mark on it. Nice white with blue trim and the current year model.

I do not need another motorcycle... I do not need another motorcycle... But it's a dual sport! I do not need another motorcycle...
