MG hack rig - opinions?

It would probably take $6-7k to get that rig looking and running right.  Check out the hack listed on the M-G Owners classifieds. http://www.mgnoc.com/classifieds.html   For the same amount you could have a pretty good outfit, if it's still available.

It has potential, and a Ural chair would be pretty nice, but it could also be a bit of a 'pig in a poke' without careful firsthand examination.    I could replace rear main seals, gaskets, etc if that was the source of the leak, but if it was something more sinister, it could be a substantial cash-sink.

I also don't know why ANYONE would "un-convert" a M-G Convert model, ESPECIALLY if it was for sidecar duty - those Sachs torque converters are extremely long-lived and make the whole experience much simpler, I think.

I agree with John, $3500 for Buy it Now is pretty steep, but lots of sellers try that trick just in case there's someone out there with a pocketful of case just jonesin' for their bike. But there are several Wildguzzi folks in the OK area who love to go look at old Guzzis for folks, and even a few around that like to swap trannies between 5 speeders and slushboxes.

If you're interested in the bike, it couldn't hurt to ask some questions, maybe put out a few feelers...
