Woodruff key

Anyone got a clever piece of trickery for extracting a woodruff key out of the front wheel spindle on my old Vespa? Tried heat and cold. Soaking in WD40 as we speak. Stuck fast at the moment.

I am not sure how a woodruff key is employed in securing a front wheel.  Picture?

WD40 isn't really a penetrating oil.  I'm not sure what is available in England.  Here, I would buy Kroil.

Any chance you can get a small pin punch or a drift onto the rear of the key?

I've always used penetrene as a penetrating oil.

Rob, WD-40 not a penetrating oil????
The company advertises it as a penetrating oil.

Try the old fuel cap trick piece of rod in the drill set on hammer....the beach boy effect good vibrations.
Plus Gas is probably your best penitrant.

Built it up with weld and then eased it off with some grips. hell of an effort though!

The WD in WD40, stands for 'water displacement ' .

It was primarily used as a water displacement fluid, like on ignition systems, and as a metal surface corrosion preventative .

This varies by region and country, but here in the US, Kroil, is considered a top notch penetrant oil .

I've used the aerospace trade name product, Aero-Kroil, for about 30 years, at least at one time, it was the only penetrating oil  authorized to be used on commercial aircraft .

Correct WD40's primary application was water displacement but it is still a penetrating oil.
