quaint little places across the border to shop and explore ( that cudda changed a bunch)

Yeah, 1969 was a LONG time ago!
My Dad was from Texas, so we made a few treks down there when I was growing up and visited the border towns, where we got to drink all the Coke we wanted!   ;D
He was born in Laredo, and had a close cousin there, so we saw a lot of Nuevo Laredo; also Piedras Negras, as my Uncle lived in another border town, Eagle Pass.

Little kids:  "Chicklets! Chicklets!"  lol!

I had a step-grandmother who lived in Monterrey, Mexico.  That is as far south as we ever got.

marc - Yeah, Greely was sorta brutal.  Seems I remember that the Army did cold weather testing on stuff there.  I was at Wainwright and it got pretty cold, too.  I got a little "commemorative" card from a field problem one winter, Jack Frost, where it hit -45F during the exercise.  I remember the "frost line" on the wall inside our shop van was about 3' off the floor!

I was talking to someone at the Airport the other day and they were complaining that they did not want to leave Oz and go home.  Home is Kuwait and the temp was 62 C.

Holy cow, I thought.  I mentioned that I used to work down the road at Dhahran and she replied that it was cool down there.  Only 42 C !

Funnily enough I have been to Ft. Huachuca as well.  Once my buddy, whom worked at D-M drove down there chasing a deer tag ('91).  Another time I dropped in for lunch whilst visiting Tombstone.  Still had the correct ID to get in the front gate.

Meanwhile in Oz, we are having exceptionally warm winter weather in Brisbane.  It is expected to be 30 C tomorrow and down south the snow just keeps falling....

Winter has finally arrived, but the temps here are in the low 80's F, 27 C today .

Majority of the US is having record low temps, ice storms, blizzards and high winds at this time .

It's perfect weather for riding .

Major down side, I have not had any precipitation since the first week of August .

Things are really dry, may have to water the cacti if we don't get any rain soon .

We're getting plenty of rain here, ugh.  I bicycled this morning, I love having good rain gear.  For cold (38 F.) rain, at least.
