fuel leak
« on: October 21, 2008, 10:54:17 AM »
Hello all,

I've got a minor fuel leak on the right side.  My right boot smells like gas around the inside of the heel, but it is not on my clothing.  I was wondering if anyone else here has experienced a fuel leak problem and maybe any ideas as to how i can narrow down exactly where it is coming from.  I have visually inspected the right side carb after a ride, and i can't see where anything appears wet, but i can easily smell it on my boot (and so can my co-workers).

Thanks in advance,

Steve

You should check the comments in the "Leaking Carb" thread in the Technical Q&A section here on the forum.  When my right side was leaking it was due to a deteriorating fuel line dropping little bita fo rubber into the carb, preventing the float valves from closing, causing the carbs to overflow.  The repair was a $1 piece of new fuel line.

Good luck running down your problem!

Thanks John.  I should have checked there before starting a new thread...  Good info there.
