YABB Bulletin board.
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:09:54 PM »
This board was in "maintenance mode" for nearly 30 hrs and I must admit I was worried that it was never coming back.

Of all the various forums I have been involved in over the years, this one is the most friendly and has a number of VERY knowledgeable and helpful people in it.

I seem to recall that BMWR65.ORG kind of "piggy-backs" on someone else's server on a "grace and favour" arrangement.

I would very much hate to lose contact with the people I've met on this board - soo who do we thanks and should we maybe come up with some sort of arrangement to compensate them for our use of their server and bandwidth?

I'd hate to see it all go off into Limbo land if we wear out our freeloading welcome.

Hi Tony,

JustinB (moderator) and his son maintain the server and keep the website up to date out of the love in their hearts.  In the distant past we would sometimes have hat or t-shirt sales to help offset the costs of these things for them, but don't do that anymore - partly because of BMW's cracking down on anything they consider unauthorized use of their corporate logo, etc.

But you, or anyone, can go to the PayPal "Donate" button up at the upper right corner of the webpage and donate any amount you like - the funds go to JustinB for use in paying for webhosting, server use, software fees, etc.   I make sure that I remember to click on that button once per year - sometimes more often.
