Time to say Goodbye
« on: January 20, 2014, 01:36:04 PM »
Just a few words to say goodbye, and to thank everyone for a great forum . I bought my R65 monoshock during 2001, but during the previous week I finally decided to let her go.

Since the beginning of 2013 I realized that the R65 was in desperate need of proper TLC, but I also needed the bike for dayly commuting. and  decided rather to buy a new Honda NC700. At that time I was thinking of keeping the R65, and to do the restoration at a later stage. Due to a lack of time and space, I recently realized that it will be better to let the R65 go. It was kinda sad, but fortunately the new owner is a keen Airhead enthusiast, and I am glad that the R65 is in good hands.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice and friendlyness at the forum in the past. I haven't been that active at the forum during the recent past, but I always enjoyed visiting the Forum, and appreciated the technical advice.

Go well, take care, and ride safe.

Regards

Danie
P.S. : I have no intension of disappearing for ever - my wife and myself try to visit the U.S. every fourth year, and during this year we will be visiting the U.S. during April / May  again.

Hey, who knows?  Maybe you'll end up with "airhead fever" again, as a number of us have suffered over the years. and will find yourself with another R65!  (I've been stricken at least three times myself!)  ::)

Hope you told your bike's new owner about this site!

Good luck, Danie, enjoy that NC700 (which is a nice bike!), and if you are ever in NC/SC, make sure you visit the Cherohala Skyway and "The Tail of the Dragon"

Thanks for the kind words. The R65 was part of my life, and I have such fond memories, I will definately visit this Forum from  time to time.

@ nhmaf - our initial destination is Des Moines, IA - but the visit will also include a road trip with the in-law family down to Myrtle Beach, SC. Unfortunately the road trip will be by car, not by motorcycle  :'(.

Regards, and God Bless.

Thanks Rob, I will definitaly remember your offer. It would be so nice to meet -  but I don't want to be too pushy.........the in-laws might just decide never to invite us for a trip again.

Be assured, when we find ourselves in the Indianapolis area, I will be thinking about you, as well as this website.

Hey Rob, if you read this, the pic below is for you - we are back home but when we we visited Indianapolis during the previous month I was thinking about you when I took this pic. We actually spent a couple of hours in the Indianapolis area and if I knew this in advance, I would definately made an attemp to meet you somewhere..... we slept the night over at a "Days Inn"hotel about 60 miles pass Indianapolis, on our way to South Carolina:

We travelled through nine states - Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carilina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Missouri. Enjoyed every minute - specially the time spent at Edisto Beach, and of course, Charleston, SC.

Great, great, country you people have - God bless America !

Regards

Danie - Please drop in occasionally (or on a regular basis) I don't want to be the only Boks supporter on this forum!

Hey Colin, the Baby Boks almost made it, but the English team deserved the cup !

As far as the Boks is concerned, although they won the game I think Scotland played much better rugby, and actually deserved to won the game !
