Kids at Schools in my granddaughters area have been preparing for a special Remembrance day event, she started asking questions a couple of months ago about WWII and we got into a long conversation about relatives who fought in both wars (and died) it was difficult and emotional as i remembered 2 of my uncles one was "Arthur" he was on one of the "D" day landings first waves and one of only a handful of men from his Platoon to get off the Beach, the other "Fred" was captured by the Japanese you can guess what kind of time he had. My fathers brother "Fred" i never new as he was Killed on a frigate near Malta when it was torpedoed. Arthur spent the rest of his life somewhere on that beach and was never to fully recover from his experience he died in 1970.
I told her what i thought she could handle at the age of 9 not knowing at the time what she was actually doing.
Anyway they produced a play which was so successful it made the news grand daughter speaks at 35 seconds into this clip (bless her)
On a lighter note having watched the clip i want to be a spitfire pilot.
Enjoy....Lou
