Our Education System
« on: April 18, 2013, 07:34:04 AM »
Apparently our education system has failed this countries most precious resource.  Well, I'm here to help turn that all around.

1) Manhattan is of course number one.  No one would even question that; well, unless maybe they had a team of overpriced lawyers at their disposal.

2) Brooklyn is my favorite and is rightly classified as number two.  Not bad, not bad at all.  No favoritism.  Well, maybe a little. I was raised in these grimy streets.

3) Queens is third, but realistically it should be switched with number 4, that being, the Borough of Bronx.  Maybe, just maybe when the amazing Mets were cleaning up in the 80's it was worth the three slot, but sadly those days are long gone.  From what I here, they've spent billions to build a house to showcase a carnival show.  The entrance fee is is so high that the average Joe has to take out another line of credit to bring his kids here.

4) See above

5) Wisely placed fifth is Staten Island.

Important note:  None of these shortcomings, or reverences for that matter, should be attributed to any one particular resident.

And just as everyone is Irish on St. Patricks day, we are all New Yorkers when you come to visit.  Please be respectful as you travel through.  If someone gives you the finger, in all probability he is just telling you he, or she, has only one minute to make it to work on time - so pretty please, get out of the way.

Well I was interested enough to read that several times so I've been educated some in New York Geography... but I'm left thinking I missed some important point which no doubt will be obvious if you are not from over the pond.

In what regard is Manhattan number one and Brooklyn No 2 etc.   Is it rudeness ?

Barry, its simple,  Manhattan has more Hot Dog trucks then us; and I'm told they replace the water once a month, whereas in Brooklyn, it's anybodies guess.

One more thing.  There are plenty of ways to be rude, the finger seems to be out of fashion these days.  Now they just use their Lincoln Town Cars to shove you off the road.  They don't bother to raise a finger.

To each his own.  NY has its "dirty water dogs."  Across the river in NJ we boil 'em in oil until they start to split (a/k/a "rippers").  I'll take a ripper (especially a "dog all the way") over a dirty water dog anytime.

So where is Coney Island on the list, at least they are smart enough there to make "Hot dogs" vaguely interesting.
Note the sausage is grilled not boiled or steamed...... true classic US cuisine.

thanks for the link!

My pc's speakers obviously aren't capable of playing this beautiful music back properly.  [smiley=smash.gif]

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

In the dark bathed in Cathode ray blue
Miss Red Hook of 1922
Weeping silently for the pain of others
Every night a tearful rosary
A victim of the curse of empathy
Her reward of compassion is to suffer

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

My short coming I know I caused her grief
Still she loves me. This I can't believe!
Responding not with anger but a prayer
Heaven's just Southwest of Cobbil Hill
True. I am the son of an angel
Maternally, not one woman compares

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

If you fall, I will catch you
When you're lost. I'll be there soon
Far away, but of course near
When you're sad I am always here

Thank you from saving me from myself
Your compassion became its own hell
Unequivocally Beautiful inside and out
Without a doubt

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes
