A very small protest
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:55:22 PM »
Five days until the tax filing drop dead date.

After rooting out every deduction I could legally claim, this year's tax tab is exactly half of what I paid for my R100S. Jumping Freakin' Jesus.

OK, my protest to the IRS is subtle, to say the least. Unfortunately, it's all I can afford right now :-/.

Mr. Montmil:  Good job, this will send a clear message.  All 1 cent stamps would have just been obnoxious.

I'm awaiting my finished returns from my accountant, should be here today, don't know if I have to pay, or get a refund .

It sickens me to see how much I pay to federal taxes every year .

That is so odd that you're in Texas and have to send yours in to NC.  I'm in NC and have to send mine to Kentucky.  Now that's government sense, isn't it!   :o  At least they don't get too much from me.  I'm ALMOST at break-even these days.

I love retirement....just have to watch what I SPEND.   :-?

Monte, Wait until next year when the 3.5% Medicare tax kicks in.    Just paid my annual vehicle registration for one bike, my car, and my trailer yesterday and I noticed that there are two new fees included this year for "services".  I'll send my taxes off in another day or so.

Your subtle protest kind of reminds me of the final scene in the movie, "In the Valley of Elah".  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Valley_of_Elah
The valley of Elah is the location where David fought Goliath.

My subtle protest is not so subtle. On any occasion for flying the flag I have flown it upside down for the last four years and counting.

This is coming from a veteran, living in a military town, who's property backs up to a nuclear sub base. My neighbors are either active military or retired military and they all understand.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

Yes............ lol

Well if you were here in the UK and earning over £150K (dream on) you will have just got a 5% tax cut while the spin doctors tell us that the mere mortals are better off .....meanwhile the debt mountain grows.
In mint condition these are fetching about £2K

You nailed it, Aida. If I was expecting a refund, I would submit to the big IRS money factory Austin, Texas. Paying the tax man means I send it to the NC BIG money factory.

And that whole file electronically deal? Yes, if you owe taxes, you can still file on-line but the IRS wants a hard copy mailed in with your check. We gotta keep all those tax-supported employees busy. Right?

As frustrating as it is, I think that in general we still pay much less than most of the Europeans.  Of course, we get much less in services from our government - and there are those of us don't want that part to change, just the pricetag that comes with it!

If you add my health insurance premiums in with my federal income tax, I pay more than the Australians as a percentage of my income.

Hmmm...not for me.  I've filed electronically for quite a few years now and all I have to send in is a voucher with my money.  I could let them debit my checking account, but I don't let ANYONE do that, much less the gov'ment.   ::)

I can't complain about taxes.  I give a little to the feds and get a little less back from the State.  Total of less than $50.  A night on the town with mrbuck.   8-)
