It is exactly this sort of thing that I believe is the motivating force behind companies like E*Trade, etc. who like to make it seem like a baby can make good trades and corner a market, profitably.

Maybe there are some folks out there, but I don't know anyone who is a successful wheeler-dealer with E*Trade or Scott Trade - and all the guys who regularly make the big bucks have their own agents on retainer..

Good Gosh, yes.  Maybe not as bad as the State Lottery, but I'm sure this dream inhabits many minds.  "Greed is good".

...thing is, the financial types have beaten up so many baby boomers of their retirement safety net so that less and less are participating.  Additionally Bernanke has pumped up the market with his cheap money and is scrwng us some more.  At least that's how I understand it.  But I'm getting slightly off topic...

A Related WSJ Article So You Think You Want to Invest In...
Stocks? Bonds? Commodities? How about putting your money into something a bit more fun.

"The big score: So much for those Harleys. One of the most expensive bikes ever to sell at auction was a 1929 Brough Superior model. The English-made motorcycle, which originally cost around $275, went for about $458,000 in 2010."
