Petrol panic
« on: March 31, 2012, 01:19:40 PM »
This week has been horrendous, i have spent most of it queuing up on garage forecourts to work on car washes the ques caused by dumb arsed politicians speculating on a strike that if it does happen it wont be for another two weeks and dumber drivers who think its a good idea to Que for 1/2 an hour for £5 of petrol.

But this made me smile..........

I saw an article on Yahoo news yesterday about the panic buying of fuel in the London area.

Reminds of of an experience that we had here in the Phoenix area about 8 years ago, the fuel pipeline from the Houston area, ruptured in the northern fringe of Tucson .

The lines for fuel that formed after that for about 2 weeks, were quite the sight !!!!

I've since altered my fuel purchasing habit, I have three 5 gallon (20 liter), fuel storage cans .

Plus with the bikes and cars that I have, I can last about 4 months without buying fuel with my normal consumption, just pump it out of the other vehicles .

Not just in London. The garages in my town have all run out of fuel. I've been syphoning it out of the car to put in the bike. I reckon at the bikes rate of consumption I have nearly 500 miles worth. Won't last 4 months but I've no intention of panicking.

When they had fuel it was £1.45/Litre  or  $8.80/US gal

I love that Lou!

The pubs in the Holme Valley could use that sign, they are going out of business on a weekly basis!

BTW, I got to Squires this week and grabbed a coffee, it was surprisingly busy for early Friday morning, love the GT 750 in the main lounge...

The shop was a little disappointing though.

The shop has just been extended i think it has lost some of its character...this was the scene on sunday....heaving and the helicoptors were in too..Gertie met some playmates, 100rt and and 80gs+ sidecar were  the only other airheads there.
