Paint or Powder

I am going to do part of the rear frame and shocker springs plus bits and pieces on the newly aquired K75RT i sand blasted and resprayed the R65 just wondering what the collective wisdom on this would be, as its a more modern bike i am not adverse to powder coating what would you do ??.

I powdered coated the frame on my R65 when I redid it. It looks great but the one drawback it that even as hard as it is it still picks up dings and nicks from the road. It is hard to touch it up and have it not look like a touch up job. With a decent paint job it is much easier to blend a touch up.

I personally prefer painting on stuff like this for ease of touch-up as marcmax mentioned.  In fact, I use a good quality rattle-can semi-gloss black so I don't have to break out the spraygun if something needs touching up.

Thanks for the tips, i think i will paint it, we have a local guy who will blast and prime parts for next to nothing but the nearest powder coating place is about 20 miles.

PJ1 'FastBlack', which is a 'pseudo' epoxy, rattle can paint, seems well thought of in motocross circles. I'm STILL in the process of refurbing my R80G/S using the PJ1  (non heat proof)  for the chassis finish, on top of an etch primer undercoat . So far I've done the monolever arm. A fairly tough and smooth finish, which touched up very nicely after I accidently scraped it, already!
I think I'm supposed to apply only a very thin coat of the etch primer, something I've found needs great care to achieve.
I may have mentioned this before on the forum, in which case apologies for repeating myself.

PJ1 have a heat proof (1500 degrees F) version of Fast Black. Only in matt finish, I think. Haven't read any reports on this one though.

Lots of rattle can hi-temp colors available for those peeps spraying their auto's disc brake calipers. Check out your FLAPS.

Does the K75 mean you won't be touring Texas with Bengt and I this summer? I have the '83 R65 all buff for you. :-?

Monte ... i now have a kitchen to replace to rebuild my brownie points with SHMBO i do love her,
I have a provisional (subject to constant rethinking) route planned for a 2 week road trip ending up staying with my pal Terry in Orange (may fly the last leg).
Phoenix- Tombstone- Silver City- Santa Fe- Amarillo- Fort Worth- Orange TX hoping to firm it up for late Oct/early Nov or following spring for comfortable weather i am still struggling with health insurance though.
