I haven't heard about the aircraft situation, are you talking about Lindbergh?

Yes, it was at Lindbergh field .

Apparently, the aircraft was blown sideways off of the runway, and one of the engines hit some runway/taxiway lights, so no major damage to the aircraft, engine cowling, and probably a precautionary engine change .

Aircraft was towed to the terminal .

The morning news -ABC network- this morning reported that a second commercial aircraft had been struck by lightning while in California airspace. A bit more intense than St. Elmo's Fire.

We had three aircraft hit by lightening yesterday, that came into Phoenix .

All three were ferried out to a heavy maintenance repair station, as the repairs were too much for us to handle, on top of the normal workload .

Phoenix is currently under a tornado watch until 2200 local, about 5 hours from now .

Southeastern Arizona, east of the Tucson area, is under a blizzard condition warning until tomorrow morning .

Like I said earlier, going to be an 'interesting' day .

I just got back online here.  The power went out yesterday at 8:15am.  For us, when the power is out, we have no water either (on a well and our tank is below grade), so we've been camped out around the woodstove.

It's still drizzly here, but at least the winds have died down.  They're saying it will clear over the weekend.

As of 0500 today, had a total of 3.5 inches of rain .

Possibly adding an additional 1-2 inches through tomorrow morning .

That's about half of our average annual rain fall in around a little over two days .

Normally dry rivers and dry washes are flowing now, catching some people off guard, as a lot of roads here in Arizona go through the dry river beds, and washes and the road ways are flooded until the water subsides .

A lot of people don't realize they are driving cars, and not boats, and find themselves in real danger after trying to drive though rushing water .

"Natural selection starts culling out the stupid humans around here !!!!"

And even though the majority of those you mention have migrated into Az from Ca, most still reside here. Anything except sunny skies around here creates a perfect storm of stupidity on the roadways.

Hang in there fellow forum members! We here in ON, Canada have been watching your weather fairly closely...all quiet here you see. Anyone know if Melena's Windsor, Ca. area is alright?

Final total, 4.2 inches (107mm) of rain .

That's 60% of our average rainfall in 72 hours .

I had a few tall cacti blown down, the ground is so soft now, that it's like thick oatmeal .

Tomorrow morning should be clear 36 F. (2 C.) and high humidity, I'm anticipating fog when I leave for work at 0520 .

Current conditions are : clear, sunny, a bit cool, 50 F. (10 C.) with wind out of the southwest at about 15 mph .

Visibility is 150+ miles .

Glad you all made it through OK.  I headed down to SoCal on the 16th.  I got one day of sunshine then nothing but rain for the rest of the week.  ~sigh~  And of course, the day I left, it was sunny and gorgeous out.  grrrrrrrrrrr
I can honestly say that in the 35 years I lived in the L.A. area, I had NEVER seen it rain like that.  That was insane.
