We've got a pressure washer at work, that has a 12 hp, single cylinder diesel engine carburated, not injected, and it has the most obnoxious  sound while running, I can't imagine riding a motorcycle that sounded like that .

Gas is up 5% in the last month in the UK we have this wonderful thing called the "Fuel Escalator" an added tax which increases yearly beyond the rate of inflation the increase has been suspended for the last 12 months due to recessionary pressures now re introduced.......if we follow the logic behind this tax a litre of fuel will eventually cost more than the car.(or bike)

The price has stayed at $2.60US per US gallon, for about the last 6 weeks at the gas station I normally patronize here in the 'Valley of the Sunstroke' .

I'm so jealous when you guys in the land of plenty talk fuel prices. We are paying almost $6 a US gal and rising.

I Bought some BP oil shares as a hedge against rising fuel prices. Not sure if it's going to pay off but it makes me feel better.

Might be cheaper to move to North America.

Well, the issue now, according to BP, is the question of actually getting to the treasure chest of dino. If I understood the article correctly, there would be over eight miles separating the drilling platform and the oil; eight thousand feet of water and 35000 feet of seabed. BP is not yet totally committed to saying it is a doable deal.

That expensive investment with no guarantee of success likely effected the stock value. Huge gains will require even greater risks of failure or success. Whatcha think they'll be asking for a barrel of their deepest? Me? I'm not holding my breath.

The prices we see posted are all about commodity traders buying & selling contracts.  The energy market today is incredibly skewed and does not actually reflect supply & demand.  Oil should sell for about six times what natural gas sells for and right now it is selling for about 24 X the price of gas.  The only thing I know for sure is we aren't drilling and aren't going to until we see some market stabilization - maybe late 2010 or even into 2011.  At least that's what the Brain Trust tells me.  I filled up the Guzzi the other night with premium for $2.59/gal.  At that price I can afford to ride.

I don't pretend to understand the oil market, just bought into BP about 6 months back when the price was low because I thought the world will be wanting more of the stuff in a few years time. So far I'm not complaining.

Here in the Irish Republic we`re paying between €1.15-€1.20 per litre for Unleaded and €1.03-€1.15 per litre for Diesel.

I don`t have a Can-Bus calculator to do the math but I suspect the Death Valley to be more welcoming price wise !!!   :(
