Fun with Grandpa
« on: January 10, 2009, 11:48:38 AM »
We don't get to see our grandchildren near enough even though they are less than a five hour drive south to Austin. So, the nine days that the entire family were with us over Christmas was fantastic; tiring, but still...

Five year old Flynn enjoyed building a wooden birdhouse that ol' Grandpa had pre-kitted for him.

Parts identification, assembly sequence, drilling, gluing, hammering (we love hammering) and painting got him wound up. From then on, the finished birdhouse went wherever Flynn went. He enjoyed showing off his new found skills to whomever we met.

We also got him on the scooter for a photo op. His mom is not too keen on Grandpa introducing motorcycles to the lad but we -Flynn and Grandpa- are going to sneak up on it.

Talked with Flynn's dad last week on his 37th birthday. Dad sez they are still attempting to re-train and de-program Flynn and 15 month-old Miss Cleo after we spoiled them rotten.

I love this grandparent gig. Y'all get ya some  :D  Monte

Way to go, Monte.
I bought my six month old grand daughter (only grand child so far) a really neat rocking horse.  My daughter and her husband agreed I could give it to her again next Christmas.

Monte

Good luck on being able to take the grandson on the bike. I took my grandkids around the block when the real young and their mother was not happy about it. A couple of years ago they bought the grandson 100 cc dirt bike. I waited about year before I asked about taking them for rides. I was able to pick him up the first time going home from work when he was going with to a cars show for the weekend. The next time his mother was not home but his dad let me take him and we rode about 100 miles. When we got home his mother was not upset but was glad she did not know so she didn't have to worry the hole time we were gone. This last Labor day I asked about taking him and she would let me take him.  Have not asked again but when the weather gets better will try on more time. I would like both of the kids to see the country my bike.

Yeah, Don, I know. It's the Mother Hen / Momma Bear thing going there. Keep after it. We'll meet you and your grandson for breakfast at Cafe des Amis in Breau Bridge. Ride the Beemer.

Danie, you and your wife are making memories with that sweet little girl. They grow up fast.

Wow!  What wonderful kids there.   :D

It's nice to see pictures and put faces with the names and places you all talk about.

Danie, that looks like a really beautiful place - very lush and green.  And what a cutie of a grand kid.

Monte, that little guy looks alot like you.  I'll bet he'll end up being a great motorcycle rider.   8-)
