[size=16]The cast is off! [/size]  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
Well, I'm not really running yet.  But I do have a walking cast on.  I'm back to work on Monday.  In 2 - 3 weeks I can start trying to wear real shoes and work up to full time in a couple more weeks.  Looks like it's at least 4 more weeks until I can start riding again.   :(  And the weather is so beautiful too.  But I can start swimming, so I will do that in the next couple of days.

I got my motorcycle back from the shop today too.  I can drive now.    :-/   Well, I can drive a vehicle with 4 wheels.   So on the way home we stopped at the BMW shop and my friend rode my bike home while I drove his truck.  I found that his big truck is easier to drive than my car.  I want his truck.........Hmmmmm..........but I don't want to pay for the gas.  Darn!  I knew there was a catch somewhere.  I guess I'll just have to drive my Toyota until I can ride my bike again.

I had errands to do (after 7 weeks, you can imagine I probably have many) and went and got my hair cut first.  Then I stopped by the little "Fast & Easy" store and got a nice bottle of Amber Ale.  I rarely drink, but I figured this is something I have to celebrate!    [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Cheers to you all!

Yay, Melena!!!  [smiley=clap.gif]  Glad to hear that cast has finally been shed!  And great news about your bike as well!  Just think, in no time you'll be cruising down the road with a huge ear to ear grin!   ;)

Just 1 bottle ?!?  Man, I would think that getting the cast off would be at least a 6-pack, myself....

Well, just so that you aren't drinking alone, I'll go get a Bass Ale outta my fridge..

Congratulations!  How can you swim with a cast?  Does it come off?  I can imagine the whole pool turning pale and cloudy with diffusing plaster.  Ick.

Now I'm thirsty, too.  Lessee, cheap beer or homemade blackberry wine?

John, I'm sure you understand this atuff all too well having gone through something even harder with Pattie Marie.  I did go sit on her and go vrooom vrooom yesterday.   ;D   Can't wait until I'm cruisin' again!   8-)

Mike, yes, just one bottle.  I was going to get a 6-pack, but I didn't want to have to go into the big grocery store to get what I wanted.  This was the only Amber Ale the little Fast Mart had in their refrigerators.  It's Calico Amber Ale from  Ballast Point Brewing Co..  I like Amber Ale - very much barley and not so much hops.   ;D  I hope you enjoyed your Bass Ale !

Ed, Oh, no!  No permanent cast!   ;D  I would sink!  It's one of those removable black walking casts.  Much lighter.  Plus, they don't make them out of plaster anymore.  They are made of fiberglass strips impregnated with resin.  When they put it on, they just dip it inwater and wrap it around the leg that has already been swathed in cotton strips.  It's weird.  You can feel it warming up as it does it's chemical reaction to harden.  What did you end up having?  The cheap beer or the homemade blackberry wine?  That last one sounds pretty good.

Melena,

After Semper Gumby arrived Sat. and the Barley Therapy had begun, we all raised a glass in honor of your freedom of the cast!  They had on tap either Oak Porter or Gaelic Ale.  I went with the Ale - nice...  Just want you to know you were with us in spirit!  ;)

Glad to hear you have some freedom and can get around now.  I know it must be nice to get out and about after all that time being laid up.  Just another step closer to riding that bike!
