Take a look at my latest thought about how to control the loud buffeting caused by a windshield...Wunderlich on the F650GS. the idea came from the eye shields on bench grinders except my shields move back and forth like a door amd swing on the mirror stalks. When they are pulled back facing me and are directing the most wind to my chest, the sound is the quietest...possibly a venturi effect on the wind makes it smoother and thus quieter. So far I am pleased and my MI friend with the hannigan says it's the quietest bike he has ridden yet. He has a 90/6.  It is my opinion that the closer the windshield the better and quieter it is..thus the Parabellum is like a barndoor and works great except you hit your helmet on it as it sits pretty close to one's head.

Can't get a pic to work sorry.

My experiment started when I attached wool tufts to my new windshield to see what was going on with the wind as it was very noisy. The top wind tufts blew back and tucked in behind the windshield and never moved from there.  The side tufts blew all over the place and indicated great turbulence.  So if I placed my hand upright near the mirror stalks I noticed a decrease in buffeting noise. The Parabellum came to mind as it sits close to the rider. The partial wind wings seem an ideal compromise and have the added bomus of being able to direct wind right at the rider to keep cool but keep things fairly quiet or close off the rider from rain by creating a protective box into which I can crouch and "hide".

Make sure that you can stand up on the pegs without smacking the windshield with your (hopefully!) face shield.  With my quiet Windjammer it's a near miss, and I'm not very comfortable doing it.

Bugs! Bloody bugs!
Thank god my RT's black because its got a good load of ex-bugs all over it, and if they stood out enough to notice I'd have to clean it :)
