Old guy returnee
« on: January 06, 2020, 01:35:02 PM »
Hello chaps,

I have been away for a little while and now it is time to return.

I have re-acquired my old R65 after leaving my care some years ago.  It was a red cafe racer, but now it is a blue street bike.  Still definately not standard.

I am doing a bit off fettling for the spring.

A few bikes in the intervening period, a Bros 400, an NC750X and a BMW K1200RS, as well as the R100 - which has been mothballed for the last few years.

I will get some pictures up as soon as I have figgured out how to bget them off my stupid phone : )

Cheers

Very pretty.

My "used to be R65" is still as ugly as sin, but it goes a lot better now.

A Complete K100RS front end, Siebenrock 860cc kit, modified cam and an R75 final drive are the major components.

When I complete the final stage of my treatment I will be fitting an LS rear wheel to sort of match the K100 front and hopefuylly grafting a K100RS set of plastics and fuel tank onto it.

Anyway, welcome back, I was only thinking of you the other day - I offered one of my two spare tachos to a fellow R65 owner in need, but the first one I found was the old one with the orange LED - I decided to keep that one and as I did so I did wonder what you were up to.

Oh, and I went over to the darkside and bought an R1150GSA a few years back - best damn eater of miles I have ever owned and 550 kilometers between fuel stops. A week back I bought a DRZ400 as I am intending to take up an old hobby of exploring abandoned mines and decided the GSA s too bloody heavy for me to handle in some of the country I will be visiting. The DRZ has an Acerbis 20lt tank, and rear carry rack and soft pannier frames with Rotopax mounts.

Looks can be decieving ;)

Lost all compression in one cylinder in France this summer.

Still I still had 5 to get me back home.

A bit messy though.  Crank case pressure and all that.

Got another engine to go in.  And got to fix the overdrive wirking again...

Ho, hum
