Yes, you could be right. At the time I thought I could get away with it as it was not a solid white line boundary.
I tried to sneak in at the end

One of the reasons I do not like riding in groups is that you are always playing 'catch up' at the back

I had never been to Matlock and did not know my around, so was keen to keep the group in sight.
I will have to get Lucky Lou to stop posting it - or I will have the Rozzers round.
Another lesson I learned that weekend was never to follow anyone without a clue where you are. On the way home that weekend, I was following my mate Rod, who had his sat nav going. I left my map in my luggage. He then ran an amber on a large motorway roundabout with traffic lights all round it, which was red by the time I get there, and I did not see where he turned off or have any clue which turn to take
So I was left in the middle of the midlands looking for the end of the Fosse Way. Never saw him again that day till we got home. I got home first as he was waiting for me on one of the slip roads - round the corner out of sight.
I just headed south west in the general direction I needed to go. I stopped near Meriden to look at my map and plan my next section, when another lad I had never met, on an semi 'cafe racered' R65, stopped to offer assistance and chat about airheads. I happened to mention I had an R65 and showed him a picture of it on my mobile. Oh, he said, you must be Steve Hawkins then. I was gob-smacked that he knew my name. He went under the name 'The Owl' on another forum and had looked at my bike on the web as he was planning on doing his. Anyway, when I told him I was making for the end of the Fosse way, he kindly led me to it, about 10 mins out of his way - complicated dual carriageways and one way systems, etc. And off I went on my merry way.
Cheers
