Shinko 244 Dual Sport, 3.50-18 front and 4.10-18 rear. Really hard to find dual sport for these, knobbies are nonexistent. Kind of glad I didn't find knobbies, don't need them, really, the dual sports are fine, I can run around in my yard in 6-8 inches of snow effortlessly, and they are quiet enough on the road I can probably leave them on all year. Odd thing is the front looks wider than the back, mounted on the bike, must be an illusion, though I haven't gotten a tape measure out.
I can't say enough about the Hippo Hands, I did about 100 miles today in 14-16 F temps, heated gear was totally unnecessary, between my Firstgear one piece thermo suit and the Hippo Hands, rode the last 20 miles home with the gear off, never got cold. Probably a good thing, I killed the battery trying to start it today, probably because I used the gear last ride and didn't put it on the tender. It fired twice, but didn't quite catch, it stalled. I jumped it and figured it would charge riding. I used the gear sparingly on the way out, at only 25% after leaving it off for the first 10 miles, and ran it a gear lower when riding through towns, but when I stalled it out after 40 or 50 miles, it needed a jump again, so I'm thinking the charging system may not be as robust as I thought, though I used it twice before with no problems? Unless it never recovered from starting out dead, nights have been 0-5 degrees F, it hasn't run in a week, asking it to start at 15 F may have been expecting too much from the old girl.
