I'll go out on a balsa wood limb, and say it's the intake port of an engine  (probably his R65)and you are looking at a valve stem and the lower part of a valve guide .

Got my Christmas ride in, on the way to work !!!

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Lou,

Bob and maf are correct, again! The avatar is a closeup photo of my rebuilt R65 heads (valve stem & guide).  Can't remember if it was the intake or exhaust.  Here's a link to more photos of the heads, cylinders  and pistons after I received them back from Ted Porter.  He did an excellent job on them.  Purdy, huh?

Another happy Ted Porter customer!! Oak of BMW guru fame suggested him to me along with 2 others. Long way to send things but I felt LRB deserved the best.
Back to the greetings!!!

Ted Porter is a good guy.  I've met him.  He was a vendor at the Autumn Beemer Bash in Quincy CA for a few years.   I also ordered my new exhaust pipes and mufflers from him.  They are right on.

Cheers!  The New Year is getting closer!!   8-)

Merry Christmas to all here on the forum. I still marvel at the phenomenon of chatting globally about  something so apolitical and truly enchanting as motorcycles. It took me 54 years to discover the addiction! Thanks for being here! P.S. hello to Melena in Sonoma County.  So am I--Rohnert Park. :)

Thanks Justin!  I'm around.  Just life stuff.

Lowlander!   Well, well.  So glad to have another R65 in Sonoma County.  I'm in Windsor.  PM me and we can have  our own little R65 Rally right here.   8-)
