The pipes are a set from a UK firm called Armours - they are a BSA style.  Armours will make a bespoke pipe for you or adapt a pipe for one bike to fit another.  You just got to know what you want and make sure they do as well.

They sound great.

Not sure of a performance improvement though.  In fact, combined the pod air filters are definately not....Although I have a healthy mid range with no flat spots, I fear that the top and has been affected a little bit.  Its still running standard jets

It has never been near a rolling road dynamometer, but the plug colour is good.

But who cares - 100mph = instant driving ban in the UK.

Here is another Armours set  (reverse cone meggas) on my R100.

Cheers

From what I can tell on their website, Armours can also supply stock R65 pipes and silencers in Stainless.  I've never heard of anyone using them even though the prices look very competitive compared to other suppliers.

It's good to know there is another alternative.

My R65 Cafe Racer originally had an Armours set of standard looking stainless silencers.

There were good, probably a little more fruity than BMW originals, but ultimately not the look I wanted for the Cafe Racer, so I sold them on.

They were on the bike when I first completed it.  See the link above.

It seems that virtually every exhaust they stock, you can order in Stainless or Chrome plated.  I would not sniff at the Chrome plated examples (both my bikes run chrome plated exhausts currently), as the plating is thick and of high quality.

I would not be so keen on the headers though, as my bike originally also had stainless steel headers, but I could never get them to seat correctly and always had an air leak on the left hand cylinder - left header probably cut too short.  The headers were unmarked so might not even have been supplied by them, but it is too much of a coincidence.  Since they were fitted by a previous owner I did not have much recourse.

However they are competively priced and otherwise good quality.  I would give them a go, but be ready to send back any headers if there were fit issues.  Forwarned is forarmed.

They also do a 2 into 1 for the larger airheads

Cheers

No, it was taken whilst travelling to France on the channel tunnel...... So at the time I was travelling at some considerable speed, on a train, underneath the English Channel!

Sounds weird when you think about it :D

but I hope you want to do more than fit Euro bars.

ya, first on my list is get everything painted in flat black, then switch the bars that are on it now back to the originals or get some that sit slightly lower, then do a single seat conversion. Then ill just think about whats next. Not sure about exhausts tho, i kinda like the ones that look like an old musket, you know, flared out at the end.

well, the r65 is in my garage...finally. i took off the UGLY (to me) fairing and the side and rear luggage racks. the luggage racks are a brand called Krauser. i will be posting pics tonite when i get home so if anyone is interested in them, i'm sure something can be worked out.
also, i heard from Bruce(boxers by Bruce) that from 85 on BMW went with the single fork swingarm for the rear. anyone know if one of these will "bolt on" to the r65, or will it take more time/money than its worth? i think they look very cool.

The 'monoshock' R65, had the same frame as the larger displacement bikes, so I would be quite surprised, if it would be a 'plug and play' type installation .

Then there's that issue of only one shock absorber to modify the twin shock frame to accept .
