Show me your R65
« on: July 25, 2009, 12:21:13 PM »
I came across this idea on a Guzzi site.....thought it was cool. Show me you R65.....let’s all show our cycles. So when a name pops up..we can put the cycle with the name. Show me you R65......I will start. This is after it's yearly bath and spit shine.....to go to the Harvest Classic and European Bike Rally in Texas. I enter the bike every year but have never won anything..it's a baby compared to many of the bikes. There are some really old and beautiful machines there

I might suggest that it would be more interesting if the owner/rider was in the photo, too. Unless you're in some sorta Witness Protection program like 'ol Bengt whatshisname. OK, I'll get a photo posted soon as I can... with me in it, too.

Nice looking rig, Scotty. But do we have to wash the bikes?

Well, Scotty, you've set the bar pretty high. ;)  So now it's both bike and rider washed and buffed.

OK, I'm in... soon.

I gotta do some cleaning up (me & bike) to even think of being in the same thread as that beautiful rig Scotty has!   Nice idea Scott - but your machine DOES set the bar rather high from the get-go !

So... I ragged on Scotty for not including hisownself in the new You show me yours and I'll show you mine thread and here I am posting photos without my mug in 'em. I have to wait for my bride to return from her business trip next week just to get her finger on the shutter.

This is The Mexico Bike, an R65 just as I acquired it from the famous Sanford Collection in Austin, Texas. Note the two-toned seat cover, bar ends and the white paint. I'll save what I know as to how the bike was named The Mexico Bike for another time.

Although I still refer to this R65 as The Mexico Bike, it now has a new look. With the BMW 501-ish paint and a new seat cover, it has a whole new personality. The bike is still a work-in-progress with another bits waiting on the bench.

Later this week I'll post a pic of both myself and my other R65, Blackie.
Scotty, you have my word.

OK, I must show my favorite picture of my R65 - my wedding, of course.
And then there's my other favorite picture of my Laverda, thanks to NCSteve.

Thank you very much.

The fairing is a marked improvement of the r65, especially when we go for longer rides on the motorway and I can recommend it.

Since I installed the fairing it has not been necessary to use the warm handles and I have been using my thin gloves only.
