You currently have the "touring" or US bars so you might try to score/scrounge a set of bar-backs.  I have seen bar-backs that will also provide additional height at the same time.

My hands go numb on anything I ride (even sitting in the La-Z-Boy watchin' the tube) so I put a cruise control of some sort on all my bikes so I can dangle arms to wake 'em up when needed.

Thank you for your suggestions.  I have rotated the bars toward me which make the grips lower but closer.  It is my shoulder that becomes numb or the feeling you get when your arm gets tingly.  Not good for distance unless many stops are made to get the feeling back.  And yes, a cruise would be an idea as it is my right arm.  The bars are a 3" rise and I think the US bars are 5".  Duane had this thought http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/lowbars.htm.  But I think low is not for me.  Maybe I am getting old and cranky.

From the angle of your pic they look like the US bars.  I haven't gotten along with low bars for quite a while...  I KNOW I'm gettin' old and cranky!  ;)

I scored some twelve inch pullback BMW bars off fleabay so I can sit upright.  No more leaning on my wrists for me!  If your cables become too short just post here.  I have the part numbers for longer cables.... ;)

I'm trying to visualize an R65 with some 6 bend pull-backs on it...
