Congrats on getting out for the first time!!!!

Just take it slow, go out when traffic is minimal, and stay within your 'comfort zone' .

It will all come back to you in time, especially on a bike you have ridden for a long time.

Your all here! What a grand feeling! Tuesday I went no where as I just didn't feel good enough. But...
Went 58 miles today and...boy it was great!!! SOooo I got this theory which Aïda and Melena and you all have backed up. When I am concentrating really hard...and riding takes all my concentration, i have no time or brain cells unoccupied. There is no way I can be thinking and worrying about other things. When I stop concentrating bad thoughts come back but they are subliminal. I do not know I am thinking about things which makes me feel spacey and vague and detached. I just know that is how I feel and it is not nice...on the otherhand it is a cheap drunk but I am very sick of it and it was making me pretty scared about the future.
When I am in Michigan with our riding friends there I feel a lot better too. Lots to do and enjoy. So that's it..keep the neurons so busy that they haven't a chance to dig up any negative thoughts or maybe they are the lost memories trying to get through and I don't want them that is for sure. Aren't our minds a wonder???

Sue, I've been following this thread for a while now, and I can't even begin to imagine the emotions of getting back on after such an accident.  However, you did get back in the saddle and should be applauded for that.

From your comments about keeping the mind really busy helping, why not go back to your initial plan and do some of the trials bike riding to get the basic skills going again?  Having dabbled in trials a few decades ago, I can attest that it takes extraordinary concentration to do it well, and that may have some very positive reinforcement.   ;)

Sue,
Great to hear of your riding again. Your forthcoming and sharp self observations leave me to believe it's your confidence and little else that needs minor mending. Your quite a spirited individual!

I will try very hard to get that Trials riding in too. Stewart who some of you met down at the Gathering of the Clans last June (Kawie 750 and BSA info person) has the bikes. On Tuesday we will get 'em out of his basement. Concentration on anything helps, I am beginning to understand and is the key. If things get clearer and less vague then it is darn good proof to me that nothing is permanently injured inside da brain! I've had my EEG cancelled 2 times but I wonder if it really will tell me anything helpful. Maybe I don't want to know and the positive feelings I get right now are better than info that pulls ya down.
Have I said recently I love LRB???
