Hiya Folks!

I'm a noob here, don't even take delivery of my bike until November, but it's an '81 r65 with 22k miles on it, very pretty overall, and my husband wants to convert it to a cafe racer for me.  (Totally an aesthetic thing for me--he got me into this craziness to begin with.)  Pics will be forthcoming when available.

I was pretty relieved to find this forum.  Husband is a mechanic and rides an '07 Suzuki SV650.  I don't go much in for the sport-bike look--they all look like insects to me--so when my stepdad offered this puppy up for sale I said "sold" so my husband would quit hassling me to get a bike.  I don't even have my license yet, just a permit.  Signing up for driver's safety course soon.  I really like what I read about these puppies, because they seem dependable and I go for reliable all the way.

Any comments, suggestions, etc., please let me know!  Excited to be here.

Annie

I see you found your way to the asylum!  Most of our inhabitants keep their shots up to date and the ones who don't we keep muzzled.

Have fun and visit often...

Come on guys!  Don't scare her away before she even has her license!  Gheez!    ::)

Welcome, Annie.  There are a few of us women on this forum and we get along with these guys pretty well.  At least as long as Justin keeps them in line.   ;)  This is actually a really good group of people here.

It's nice to have another woman here.  My R65 is what I learned on and it's the only bike I've had.  If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to post them here.  Everyone is very helpful from the wrenching part to the safety part and the part about the wonderful rides to be had.

Okay, I'm trying to download pics of when I first looked at it onto my laptop.  It may take five minutes or so.  Don't knock my chair out from under me.  Jeez.

BTW, the mileage is for real.

Oh, and Melena--I know what it's like to be a woman in a man's world!  But this group seems a lot more mellow than my husband's SV650 group.

If it runs as good as it looks I think you have a winner!  Make sure the regular preventive maintenance is up to date before you start putting a lot of miles on it...

The best part is the minty flavored muzzles, yum. Nice bike and a great choice for a cafe special. Sooo classy in black.

Yup, looks good !
If it weren't for the yellowing rondels, most folks would never know the age of the bike !    Maybe you'll just polish it up and put some shiny crisp new propellers on it
and ride it that way for a while !

Like pearls and a black dress, it is a classic look that never goes out of style.
