Hi
[smiley=furious3.gif] [smiley=wall.gif] [smiley=furious3.gif] After spending most of my childrens' and my unborn grandchild's heritage on restoring the tops, rebuilding the carbs, new electrical gadgets, new ignition and a lot more, one would think that the engine would run smoothly. It did so too but 200 miles at 6000 rpm was more than it could take: After app. 100 miles it began to behave as if the fuel was shut off for very short periods lasting maybe half a second. I stopped to pause for 15 minutes and went on. So did the fuel cutting after a little while.
When I left the highway, the engine would not rev down to idle but stayed at 3000 rpm.
It is not the cabling, the bean can (I have installed a digital ignition module) or receding valves (I checked the setting which was as it should be - 0,2 mm e and 0,1 mm i).
I discovered that the fuel line was frayed at the right side, thus letting false air into the stream and accounting for the short fuel shut offs. I fear that the right cylinder was overheated.
The situation now is that the engine idles perfectly at 1000 rpm when cold but after 15 miles the right cylinder won't go below 3000 rpm. It is not a constant condition, some times it idles normally but most of the time it won't idle normally.
Help me please, I am very frustrated and in the mood to scrap the animal!
greetings from a (at last) precipitating north
