Hello there all. Dan here, and I'm very happy to say that this past weekend I became the caretaker of an '83 r65. Returning to the airhead fold after a 5(?) year hiatus. (The R100cs just needed too much after 80k of good riding. Had a R65LS in the mid 80's. It'd been neglected tho and a friend promised to return it to glory- $ & time I didn't have.)

After riding about town today I just got that great feeling - ah what a great bike - mine in particular and it in general. But I know ya'll are the converted so I'll stop. Looks like a great site here too.  

Of course after 24 years and 45k miles it's got a few items to care for but I'll peruse the mechanics posts first. Sadly I'm not very computer savy, so not meny bells/whistles from me, but I can type. Thanks for being out there - D

Welcome Dan, and welcome back.

I felt the feeling this evening (morning) at 0030 on the way home from work.  73 degrees, I had sunshine going in, thunderstorms around 1730.  All dry by the time I went out for my lunch ride.
  
But it is the ride home I really enjoy.  Most of the time it is after midnight, and all but a few of the traffic lights are flashing yellow - generally just cops and drunks, but traffic is light.  I love it.  Nice and balmy.
I got a warning ticket several weeks ago, so now I just have my favorite gear for each speed zone, and dial in the GPS and cruise...

I bought my machine new, but it has had a rough life.  It is still running though!

Feel free to post questions about how to work the computer.  There is a test section (as you probably saw) where you can play to your hearts' content.

Welcome Dan, I see from your profile, that you reside in the perpetual misty city of Seattle. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Not too often do we get a problem that nobody has seen before. I know what you mean about putting money into a bike with 80,000 miles. I'm just about done with my '81 R65 with 80,000 miles on it, looks like the cost for this maintenance cycle is going to be just short of $2000, bikes not worth much more than that!
