You will all laugh at me I'm sure.  Apart from the BMW that I have just acquired (still waiting to get it out of the shop), my favorite bike is the CT110.  The Australian post bike. [smiley=embarassed.gif] The most sold bike in Australia and the general public cannot buy new.  The best thing I have had  between my legs (apart from my wife) is a 350 Chevy trike that was imported from America under the Cobra badge. ;D.
Rob that one nice looking side car.  I do like sidecars.

Honda.

I can still get new parts from a dealer for a 34 year old motorcycle.  Amazing.  Then comes the BSA with all its old world quirkes.

The owner of this bike is just about making me cry:

He would trade it for a good 3/4 ton Chevy or (prob.) GMC Napco 4 x 4 pickup.  Mine is nowhere near worth as much as that bike; in fact, I don't even have the running gear installed yet.  It's a 1970 Rob North Trident, raced at Daytona.  It is obviously not street legal, and I would expect would need major work (ruining it) to make it streetable, since it probably needs racing gas.  Nor can I afford to race.

But....   :'(

Your link didn't work, Ed.   Here you go, everybody: http://64.180.180.24:82/ebay/index.html

What do Harley Davidson's and Cattle dogs have in common?
They both go well on the back of   cattle trucks.

Not just any pickup.  A Napco equiped Chevy truck, in restored condition, would be in the 20,000 dollar mark, I believe.  Mine will never be in that condition because it will always be hauling firewood, horse manure, rocks, mushroom compost, and very rarely a bike.  Napco was a company that made kits to convert Studebaker, Ford, and GM trucks to 4WD before the factories decided they wanted to do it.

Here's a site with some information about them:

http://www.napco4x4.org/

I actually have no idea what he could get for the bike, and he didn't give any asking price.  I think you have to be registered to even view our Napco forum, but here's his post if it works:

http://napcopowrpak.groupee.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1171029491/m/4251026343

He had a picture on that page, but it's gone now.  It's in the gallery anyway.

Oh, and thanks, Rob.  Why the heck didn't the image come in, and why didn't the link work?

Please pardon my ignorance, and never mind.....  :-[

I would have thought we would have more than only 18 people who took part in the poll by now.  Maybe our fellow members are scared they'll get put on a mailing list of the brand they choose!   ::)

Since Bill claims Honda has great parts support I cast my vote that way.  Only other "real" motorcycle I've ever had except Beemers has been a Honda...

+2

I've had more Honda's than any other bikes, but now Spare Bike is a Kawasaki, and I'm finding they've got pretty good parts support for the newer bikes, 1998- fsvo newer.

Still have to vote for Beemer as my favorite brand. Even though the KLR is a a total kick in the pants to ride over the bumpy stuff, it doesn't knife through the wind like buttah as the RS fairing does, or even the Parabellum Scout faired R65.

(She said "brand". Heh heh heh. )

My only non-BMW bike, was my first bike, a 1979 Yamaha XS 400FB. I sold it in 1992 during a year long period of unemployment. Not that it was exceptional at anything, more like a capable ,reliable, beginner machine, if I had known that I would have ended up in Phoenix, I would have kept it. I still search the classified ads for one locally.

I bought an early 80s Yamaha Virago a couple of years ago to use as a summer bike.  It was fun to rided and was in like new condition so I figured it was a keeper.  I was going to lay in what I thought of as routine maintenance items and discovered that half the stuff was no longer available!  I sold it the next spring...

Gotta admit, I was raised on Honda.  My uncle had an Indian I thought was awesome and my cousin had Harleys.  My son rides dirt bikes and we have Hondas, though thinking of trying a KTM, with some concern over parts and service.
