« on: February 04, 2007, 10:08:40 PM »
This is Kling Tut after a long abscence from the forum, I finally got my 83 R65 LS up and running.  I got lucjy on the unbloked crank during the flywheel removal process - but made sure I blocked for the re assembly.

Mods to the bike
steel braidded brake lines
converted turnsignal into turns and running lights
removed air recirculation system and vented to atmosphere through crankcase breather filter
found old R100 lufmiester air box blank off plate and installed instead of stock air box
replaced final drive with rebuilt unit
found decent set of krasuer bags and bag mounts and installed said same
running bridge stone battle ax tubeless tires front and rear
increased main and pilot jets
took for frozen snot ride last week here in chicagoland - nice and fast - but had to take an long hot shower to warm up.

other bikes now very jealous
1978 Honda cx 500 super sport
1983 Honda cx 650 euro sport
1983 Honda gl 650 siverwing bagger
1983 honda sliverwing interstate parade float
1983 Honda gl 500 silverwing project in waiting
1978 Honda cx 500 track bike project in waiting
1975 Suzuki GT 750 triple water buffalo project in waiting

best regards

Good to have you back, kling!  I take it you got my message through your company website?

Those of you that travel by air (passengers, S.G....) visit http://store.klingtut.net/ and support our friend!

Warm weather will be coming eventually.  My bike is back in riding shape (shocks and seat foam, etc) - maybe I'll make it up to admire your CX collection this year!

Welcome back, Kling Tut.   But of course the other bikes are jealous.  The R65 is the best!   ;D  Good job on all that work on her.  I'm sure it will be your main ride now.  And you can go to the BMW rallys now.   ;)

Now I understand where your name came from.  That is pretty cool.  Thanks for posting that Rob.

It is interesting, in that a couple of years ago (before I heard of or saw his product), I adopted that "arms crossed on the chest" position for falling to sleep.
Unlike old, musty kings, though, I prefer it face down.

Really!

glad you see the common denominator for how humans are prone to naturally self embrace thenselves, not only during sleep but also in close quartered seating.  conceivably it could be used on motorcycles where the driver werars a variant of the vest / jacket and the pillion rider uses a variant of the hand mitts to releasably attach their hands to the drivers garment.

or as we like to say in the business - you can sleep like a mummy with your hands above your tummy - or - whether wide or whether your narrow you can rest at ease like mighty pharoah.

This week end I put the bridgestone battax tires on the LS - that should brng us a 70 day in february for sure.

Yeah, welcome back, Kling Tut!  Man, you have one impressive collection of Hondas there!  I used to own a 1980 CX500 Deluxe, and loved riding it!  Smooth as silk to shift, and plenty of torque!    I regret it x1000 for selling the bike, too!  :-[

welll my friend I could be persauded to sell the 1979 honda cx 500 super sport tons of mods

gl 500 froont end for bigger diameter fork tube and dual piston dual front brakes with steel braided liines less than 6000 original miles cbx supert failing - gl 500 larger carbs with accelerator pump, single K & N air filters - converted air box into trick little glove compartment plus the GC in the tail fairing - honda gold wing showa air shocks, tapered steering head bearing conversion, new nissan master cyclinder, all new rubber - it's like no cx ever seen before and rides like its on a rail quick and nimble and unbeleivably easy to work on and maintain.  so let me know if there's any interest ion your part stored in my heated garage as well.

best regards and thanks

I loved those SS fairings on the CBX, CX Turbo...I am pretty sure they had one similar on a 750 and a 1000cc 4, as well?

Got a picture of it?  It sounds too nice to make a sidecar mule out of.  (Don't worry, I don't have any money.)

Kling, if you ever get to north eastern PA, you MUST visit Bob Logue Motorsports.  GREAT Honda museum!
I (mucho-stupidly) sold him my grey-market Honda Dream 50 - the version with lights and speedo... :'(  :'(  :'(  :'( (etc. ad infinitum)
