Melena, after thinking about all of this I agree that requiring a short intro post would be a good idea.  I have set the text of the "welcome" e-mail that users het with their password advising then they need to make a post or be deleted and also put a sticky at the top of this board.

Great idea! And those new users will be nudged into getting involved much quicker and we'll all find new friends!
