Just wanted to say thanks for allowing me join the group.  My 18 year old grandson just got his first beemer.  A 1980 R65 with a whopping 3,500 miles on it.  I'ts been sitting for a while but runs great.  We're gathering a few parts so we can get him on the road.  He is super excited.  I ride a 74 R90/6 and am looking forward to riding with him. :)

Welcome Mrabiff.

A 1980 bike can sometimes be a transition between the early 78-79 models and the later 1981 model so there are a few bikes out there that have some features of both which will impact on spares.  Attached is a file with most of the detail differences.  Let us know if it's a straight 1980 model or has some of the later 1981 features.
